Dec 01, 2011 · The tank will fill maybe 1/2 to 2/3 full of water and compress the air in the tank. This air is where the pressure is absorbed when the system heats up. Water can't be compressed, but air can, so when the pressure rises from heating the water, the pressure will be controlled by that air 'bubble' in the tank. Check the gauge on the boiler.
